Teams to comprise two pairs, each pair to play 2 sets against each opposing pair. At 6-6 a set is decided by a standard tiebreak.

The winning team shall be the one winning most sets.  In the event that the sets are level (i.e. 4 sets each), the captains of each team must select one player from each pair to contest a ‘champions’ tie-break (first team to ten points and by two clear points) to decide the result.

RULES FOR GRAYS COUNTY CUPS

  1. Choice of ground: (a): When one club shall have been entitled to choice of ground in the current competition a fewer number of times than its opponent, the former shall have choice. (b): When two clubs have met in the previous year’s competition the choice will go to the club that did not have the choice on that occasion. (c): If (a) or (b) does not apply the choice shall be determined by priority in the original draw.
  1. Clubs with more than one team: If a club enters more than one team, once a player has played for a higher team he or she is ineligible to play for the lower team again.
  1. Players’ eligibility: Any bona fide member of a club is eligible to play with the exception of:

a): any player who has represented any County Senior first team in any match over the past 5     seasons

b): any player who is nominated for or a men’s, ladies or mixed team in division 1 or 2 of the Slazenger Cambridge & District Leagues

c): any player who has played more than twice in division 1 or 2 of the Slazenger Cambridge & District Leagues (Men’s, Ladies or Mixed) prior to the Cup fixture in the current season.

In the Final all players must have played (in the current season) for the team in a previous round, or in a League match (not excluded by b) or c) above) for the same club. The Committee will only allow an exception where the replacement player(s) are not at a recognised division 1 or two playing standard.

A player may only represent one Club in a season

  2. Incomplete matches: In the event of a match being incomplete through bad weather or bad light, the result shall be decided on the result of the first pair of rubbers played.  If these are not completed then the match shall be rearranged.
  3. Choice of date: The home team shall offer the away team a choice of three dates for the match.  In the event of postponement, then the two teams should agree a date.  The onus to arrange the fixture is with both teams, but if the match is not played by the deadline date then the away team shall go through.
  4. Result notification: The winning team shall inform the organiser of the result within three days and also contact the likely next round opponent.
  5. Rules: Rules generally as for the League, except as above, but any queries or disputes should be referred to the League Secretary who shall have the power to interpret or amend the rules in order that the ideals of sportsmanship may be preserved.  The League Secretary’s decision shall be final.
